base (shapes)

Definition

The "base" of a 3D shape is usually the flat bottom it sits on, like the square on a pyramid. For shapes like a prism, which has two identical ends, both of those ends are called bases.

base (shapes) is a term used in Ontario’s Kindergarten to Grade 8 curriculum.
