Built features are things in our world that people have made or changed, like buildings, roads, or parks.
The school playground is a built feature because people designed and constructed it for kids to play on.
How to teach this in 30 seconds
Try this analogy: Built features are like the things you build with blocks — they are parts of our world that people made.
Ask your child: Look out the window. What did people build?
Common mix-up: Kids may think built features are just buildings. They also include things like roads, bridges, and even parks that people planned and created for us to use.
