English language learners (ELL)

Definition

These are students learning in English schools whose first language isn't English, or is a very different kind of English, and who need extra help to become good at speaking and understanding English.

English language learners (ELL) is a term used in Ontario’s Kindergarten to Grade 8 curriculum.
