Features are the noticeable things you see in a place, like mountains (natural) or buildings (human-made).
In a picture of a park, a tree is a natural feature and a bench is a human-made feature.
How to teach this in 30 seconds
Try this analogy: Features are like the different things you can point to on a walk, like a big tree that grew there or a bench that someone built.
Ask your child: What's one thing outside that people built?
Common mix-up: Kids might only notice big buildings or cars as features. Features can be both things people build, like houses, and things that are part of nature, like rivers and hills.

- A river, a hill, and a forest are all natural features.
- A road, a bridge, and a building are all human-made features in a community.
