A flipbook is a small book with pictures that change slightly on each page. When you quickly flip through the pages, the pictures look like they're moving, like a mini-movie.
A flipbook might show a stick figure on the first page, then the same figure with its arm slightly higher on the next, and so on.
How to teach this in 30 seconds
Try this analogy: A flipbook is like a tiny, hand-powered cartoon where you control the speed of the action.
Ask your child: How could you make a stick figure look like it's waving?
Common mix-up: Kids might see a flipbook as just a stack of drawings. The magic is in how each drawing is a tiny step in a sequence that tricks your eyes into seeing movement.

- A flipbook showing a flower blooming, with each page showing the petals opening a little more.
- A flipbook of a ball bouncing, where the ball is a little lower on each page until it hits the ground and comes back up.
