The FLSZ rule, also known as the floss rule, is a spelling trick for short words: if a one-syllable word ends with an /f/, /l/, /s/, or /z/ sound, you usually double that last letter, like in "staff" or "buzz.
FLSZ rule is a term used in Ontario’s Kindergarten to Grade 8 curriculum.
