Group role play is when everyone in the class, including the teacher, pretends to be different characters in a made-up situation.
The whole class pretends to be at a vet clinic, with some kids as vets, some as pet owners, and the teacher as the receptionist.
How to teach this in 30 seconds
Try this analogy: Group role play is like when everyone in the family pretends to be on a spaceship, with each person having a special job to do.
Ask your child: If we all pretend to be animals, what will you be?
Common mix-up: Kids might think role play is just one person pretending. In group role play, everyone, even the teacher, joins the same imaginary world together.

- The family pretends they are pioneers on a long journey, with everyone helping to set up camp.
