intergenerational trauma

Definition

Intergenerational trauma is when the lasting effects of a very bad past event, like war or discrimination, are passed down and affect children and grandchildren, even if they didn't experience the event themselves.

intergenerational trauma is a term used in Ontario’s Kindergarten to Grade 8 curriculum.
