A scene is like a small chapter in a play where the location and time stay the same for a little while.
In a school play, the part where all the characters are in the classroom is one scene.
How to teach this in 30 seconds
Try this analogy: A scene is like one part of a cartoon that happens in the same place before it switches to somewhere new.
Ask your child: If we were acting this out, where would we be?
Common mix-up: Kids might think a scene is the entire play. A scene is just one small part of the story that happens in one place at one time.

- The next scene might show one of the friends at home for dinner.
- In a puppet show, a scene is everything that happens before the backdrop changes.
