A media text is anything that shares a message with people, like a book, a song, a movie, or even an advertisement. It uses words, pictures, or sounds to tell us something.
A TV commercial is a media text that uses sounds and moving pictures to persuade an audience.
How to teach this in 30 seconds
Try this analogy: A media text is like a message sent in a special package, like a TV show, a song, or even the pictures on a cereal box.
Ask your child: What is the front of this cereal box trying to tell you?
Common mix-up: Kids may think 'media' only means the news on TV. A media text can be almost anything that sends a message, like a song, a poster, or even the T-shirt you're wearing.
