Movement in art is how an artist guides your eye through a picture, using things like lines or colours to lead you from one part to another, often to the most important spot.
Hopping on one foot from the couch to the door is one type of movement.
How to teach this in 30 seconds
Try this analogy: Movement is like all the different ways you can get from one side of the room to the other, like walking, hopping, or crawling.
Ask your child: How many ways can you move across the room?
Common mix-up: Kids might think movement only means traveling from place to place. Movement also includes all the ways our body can bend, stretch, and twist, even while staying in one spot.
