pattern core

Definition

The "pattern core" is the smallest part of a repeating design or sequence that shows what the whole pattern is. For example, in a pattern like red-blue-blue, red-blue-blue, the core is just "red-blue-blue.

pattern core is a term used in Ontario’s Kindergarten to Grade 8 curriculum.
