Recomposing numbers means putting numbers back together after you've broken them apart to make a math problem easier to solve. For example, if you break 24 into 20 and 4, recomposing means putting them back together to get 24.
recomposition of numbers (recompose) is a term used in Ontario’s Kindergarten to Grade 8 curriculum.
