EQAO readiness, built on Ontario's curriculum

Every Grade 3 and Grade 6 student in Ontario sits the EQAO assessments in reading, writing, and math. SmartStudy offers original practice aligned to the Ontario curriculum those assessments are based on — so your child practises the right skills, in the formats they'll actually see.

These SmartStudy examples build skills children use in Ontario classrooms. They are not official EQAO questions.

Four art kits each hold 6 coloured pencils. How many pencils are there altogether?

Grade 6 · Reading
Rowan checked the community garden every Saturday. After a storm bent the tomato plants, Rowan used small sticks and string to hold them upright. A week later, new leaves had appeared. What does Rowan's action show?

How SmartStudy gets your child ready

Practise the real format

EQAO is fully digital. Maple's practice uses the same kinds of questions — drop-down menus, select-all, putting steps in order, and typed answers — so the screen feels familiar, not surprising, on test day.

See if your child is on track

A plain-language read of where your child stands against Ontario's provincial standard, strand by strand — updated as they practise, so you know where to help long before results arrive.

Built on Ontario's curriculum

Every practice question is original and aligned to the curriculum expectations EQAO assesses — coaching the thinking, never handing over the answer. Made in Canada, hosted in Canada.

What's covered

SmartStudy covers the full Ontario curriculum for Kindergarten to Grade 8, which includes everything assessed by the EQAO Grade 3 (Primary) and Grade 6 (Junior) assessments — reading, writing, and the math strands of Number, Algebra, Data, Spatial Sense, and Financial Literacy. The Grade 9 Assessment of Mathematics and the OSSLT literacy test join SmartStudy as we expand to Grade 9–12.

Common questions

Does SmartStudy help my child prepare for EQAO?

Yes. SmartStudy offers original practice aligned to the Ontario curriculum that EQAO assesses, so Grade 3 and Grade 6 students practise the right skills in the digital formats they'll see on test day. We focus on readiness and confidence — we don't guarantee scores, and we're not affiliated with EQAO.

What is EQAO, and does it count toward my child’s grades?

EQAO is Ontario's provincial assessment program. The Grade 3 and Grade 6 assessments are diagnostic — they measure reading, writing, and math against the provincial standard but don't affect report-card marks. They're a useful checkpoint on whether your child is on track.
