A pathway is the line your child's body or a part of it makes when they move, like when they draw a circle in the air with their hand.
Walking in a straight line from the door to the window creates a straight ground pathway.
How to teach this in 30 seconds
Try this analogy: A pathway is like the invisible line your body draws in the air or on the floor when you move.
Ask your child: What path can you make on the floor to get to that toy?
Common mix-up: Kids might think a pathway is just about getting from here to there. A pathway can also be the shape you make with your body, like a straight, curvy, or zigzag line.
Examples
- Drawing a big circle in the air with your arm creates a circular air pathway.
- Hopping from one foot to the other in a zigzag line makes a zigzag pathway on the floor.
