Donating means giving something like money, time, or items to help people in need or support a good cause.
If a class collects 150 cans of food and their goal was 100, they donated 50 more cans than their goal.
How to teach this in 30 seconds
Try this analogy: Donating is like putting toys you've outgrown into a box for another kid to enjoy.
Ask your child: If you donated $2 from your $10 allowance, what part did you give away?
Common mix-up: Kids might think donating only means giving money. You can also donate useful things like clothes and food, or your time to help.

- Donating $5 from a $20 weekly allowance means you have $15 left for yourself.
- If 20 students each donate 2 books, the class has donated 40 books in total.
