Your child will be able to read, write, and take apart (decompose) and put together (compose) whole numbers up to 10,000. They will also understand how these numbers are used in everyday life.
- B1.2 Whole Numbers
Your child will be able to compare and put in order whole numbers up to 10,000, understanding which numbers are bigger or smaller in different situations.
- B1.3 Whole Numbers
Your child will be able to estimate numbers by "rounding" them up or down to the closest ten, hundred, or thousand, depending on the situation. For example, they'll learn that 23 rounded to the nearest ten is 20.
- B1.4 Fractions and Decimals
Your child will be able to show fractions like one-half or three-quarters using pictures, tools, or by writing them down (e.g., 1/2). They will also understand what the top number (numerator) and bottom number (denominator) in a fraction mean.

Your child will be able to quickly remember multiplication facts up to 10 x 10, and also understand the related division facts (for example, knowing that if 3 x 4 = 12, then 12 ÷ 4 = 3).
- B2.3 Mental Math
Your child will be able to solve multiplication and division problems with numbers like 10, 100, and 1000 in their head, and also add and subtract decimal numbers that have one digit after the decimal point. They will also be able to explain how they figured out the answers.

Your child will be able to solve addition and subtraction problems with whole numbers up to 10,000, and with decimal numbers that have one digit after the decimal point (like 3.5). They will use different methods, including step-by-step procedures called algorithms, to find the answers.

Your child will be able to solve problems that involve multiplying two- or three-digit numbers by one-digit numbers, or by 10, 100, or 1000, sometimes using tools like arrays (which are pictures that show rows and columns of objects).

Your child will be able to solve division problems with two- or three-digit numbers divided by one-digit numbers. They will also understand how to write any leftover amount (remainder) as a fraction, and use tools like arrays (pictures that show equal rows and columns) to help them.

Your child will learn that repeatedly adding the same fraction, like 1/4 + 1/4 + 1/4, is the same as multiplying that fraction by a whole number, such as 3 x 1/4. They will use objects, pictures, and written fractions to show this connection.

Your child will be able to tell the difference between two types of information: "qualitative data" which describes qualities (like colours or feelings), and "quantitative data" which deals with numbers and amounts. They will also understand when it's best to use each type of information.

Your child will be able to gather information from different places, like surveys they conduct themselves (primary sources) or information that's already been collected (secondary sources). They'll use this information to answer questions by comparing different sets of data, and then organize it into tables that show how often something occurs (frequency tables) or plots that display data by separating each value into a "stem" and a "leaf" (stem-and-leaf plots).

Your child will learn to find and mark points on a graph using coordinates (like an address for a spot on a map) and understand how to describe moving a point from one place to another on that graph.
