They will use different ways to show these patterns, like using tables of numbers, drawing graphs, or writing algebraic expressions (a math phrase with letters and numbers) and equations (a math statement showing two things are equal) for patterns that grow in a straight line.

    Your child will be able to tell the difference between two types of information, called "discrete data" and "continuous data," and give examples of each. Discrete data is information that can be counted, like the number of students in a class, while continuous data is information that can be measured, like a person's height.

    Your child will learn to collect different kinds of information, like observations (qualitative data) and numbers (quantitative data), to answer questions about a group of people or things. They will also learn how to organize this information, sometimes by putting numbers into groups called intervals.

They will also understand how to change these measurements between smaller and larger units, for example, converting centimeters to meters.

    Your child will learn to use a protractor (a tool for measuring angles) to measure and draw angles up to 360 degrees. They will also understand how angles measured clockwise (like a clock) relate to those measured counterclockwise.

    Your child will be able to use the special relationships between different types of angles (like supplementary angles, which add up to 180 degrees, or complementary angles, which add up to 90 degrees) to figure out the size of unknown angles.
