In dance, "relationship" describes how dancers interact with each another or with objects and the space around them.
When one dancer leads and another follows, they are showing a leader-follower relationship.
How to teach this in 30 seconds
Try this analogy: A relationship in dance is like playing with a partner, where you might copy each other, move around each other, or move together as one.
Ask your child: Can you try to be my shadow as I move?
Common mix-up: Kids might think 'relationship' only means friends or family. In dance, a relationship is simply about how bodies or objects connect and interact in a space.
